first day – fasten your seatbelts

Hi there folks,

The flights were fine and on time. The international flight was cool. Since there was so few people the flight attendant let people stretch out across the center aisle to get some shut eye. I tried to use my phone…so much for keeping in touch with my cell. It doesn’t work here. I will try to either find a cheap one (the kind you use with calling cards) or I will just use the land line when I check into Rue Amelie tomorrow 1 Nov. 2007…I think :0) I think I have a bad case of jet lag…no, I know I do.
Anyway, I had an okay first day. It was rough getting to the hotel from the metro. I took the train fine and like I thought it is similar to riding the T. There is a map of stops outside, and several inside the train. Unlike the T, the only French I understand well is on the metro! omg.

Since my plane was very early I could not check into the hotel right away when I arrived. I had to leave my carry on in the hotel and then go back out to the city. I really wanted to rest instead I just walked around the block and guess what…Starbucks! Woohoo. I was so excited I could rest my feet, drink some tea, read a book for a while. It was pretty good. Then, I found Boulinier a used book, dvd, cd whatever else store. They were blasting a Michael Jackson cd like it was just released! Oh, I had to laugh and that cheered me up.

Well, I was glad I didn’t get too discouraged. I escaped from the fast paced city streets to the Luxembourg Garden and Palace. It was really cute. I can imagine in the spring and early summer it must be even more beautiful. There were people everywhere playing, studying, reading, running…just enjoying themselves. I took a break for a while to read and soak in some sunlight.

Afterward, I went window licking…I’m serious that’s what we call window shopping. I went in to some cute stores that were not too expensive Cote a Cote and Etam were really cool women’s shops. I also had fun shopping the Monoprix. It has all sorts of things like Target.

Anyway, I hope to sleep soon and get my clock on track. I will write more tomorrow.
